I have a 1997 M3 Coupe.
First issue, im getting power to the stock headunit but it does not turn on, i replaced it with another stock unit and its still the same issue.
The car also throws a fault on the OBC for "brake light circtuit',"low beam failure","tail light failure" and
license plate light failure". But all of the above work.
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Luke
The head unit likely has 2 sources of power: always on (to retain presets) and switched. The head unit will not “run” unless it’s getting switched power.
The other issue: does the car have any aftermarket lighting? How old is the battery?
OBC for "brake light circuit' - inspect brake light bulbs and sockets for corrosion
"low beam failure" - does it have stock lights or HID kit? If there are LED/HID bulbs - it will trip the OBC.
"tail light failure" - inspect brake light bulbs and sockets for corrosion
license plate light failure" - inspect brake light bulbs and sockets for corrosion.
Did you check the fuses?
Here is the wiring diagram so you can see what is on each circuit;
