Hey guys still new to my e30 only just got it running after few years and seems to be strange whining noise car is left hand drive so sounds like its from front offside it comes and goes and stays no matter what dried neutral and tried turning but still there sounds like something turning thats causing it but i have no idea just always there any help on how to eliminate possibilities would be great sorry not much to go on but pretty hard to check when driving car is fine when idling. Thanks guys

Okay, so it is identified as a "rotational" noise. Best would be to lift the whole car up, and spin each wheel. If you don't have a lift, you can use a jack with a jackstand and rotate that left front. Also grab the tyre at the 6-O'clock and 12-O'clock and see if you can move it back and forth
