    1990 525i oil pressure switch

Greetings everyone. I'm trying to take out a leaking oil pressure switch on my 1990 525i. The 22mm deep socket does not fit the switch. Do I need a thinner socket? Because the 22mm socket fits the new switch on hand. I'm thinking because of tight clearance of the oil pressure switch pocket I need something thinner. Any help is greatly appreciated.

From what I read a regular thickness socket will fit clearance wise.
I think you've fallen into a trap and assume the old switch is 22mm. I'm pretty sure it's not and depending on year or model it may be 23mm or 24mm

E: I've seen people on e30 vids use a 15/16" so try one fit - if you already have one.

Thanks mate for the reply. That's exactly what I was thinking. I've seen the e30 vid and tried my 15/16 impact socket but I suspect that socket is a little too thick. I'll try a 23mm or a 24mm. Thanks again have a g'day.

You were right fo3. The pressure switch on the pan was a 24mm. It is a TRW made in Germany. I guess it's OEM. The new one is a 22mm FAE. I wonder how long this will last before leaking. The TRW lasted around 13 years. My project was to change the switch and rethread the oil pan drain hole. Was a bit nervous about rethreading but it turned out good. I used the Lisle tool. So all I have to do today is clean the drive way. Thanks for your intput fo3. I hope this helps. Bye for now.

Sorry, I forgot the TRW logo.
