    Which fuse for 12v power / lighter?

    I have a new to me 2015 640i convertible. I am getting no power from the 12v outlets and USB. My assumption at this stage is that this is a blown fuse - everything else works perfectly. Having had many BMWs in the past, I knew where to find the fuse box(es), and I also looked this up in the manual (eg I did RTFM). However, the fuse map is given symbolically, with no words whatsoever, and I can't work out which one corresponds to the item(s) in question. I suppose I could pull them ALL looking for a blown one, but that seems like asking for more trouble than it's worth... Surely this is written down in words somewhere? I'll even take German; probably Google Translate is good enough to get through this problem...

    My older 2008 650i has the same symbolic diagram.... not helpful. My fuse location I found at this site, https://www.carknowledge.info/bmw-6-series-e63-e64-2004-2010-fuse-box-diagram/
    You can probably select your year model.... hope it helps.

    Unfortunately that site apparently does not have 6-series later than 2010. But thanks, as it could well have solved my problem in a flash. Googling, I definitely found lots of similar complaints about the symbolic map. I can't believe that they haven't addressed this in 9+ years. I'm no DIY expert, but even I can trivially fix a blown fuse... This appears to be so top-secret that I'll actually have to take it in to get a fuse changed...

    Just an additional FYI to help those figure out which symbol represents the 12 volt (cig lighter) fuse icon...see pic below (from I believe the f10 5 series) and look for the icon that has "lighter" listed. I'm not sure why BMW thought this would be easier to figure out without giving us a hint for the first few iterations of BMW models by listing text below ALL of the icons when they switched over to this type of fuse index. I will say that once you get accustomed to it...most of the icons used on the fuse index are also printed on many of the buttons/switches:

    {the fuse nbrs in the pic below do not relate to the e63/e64...but the icons used on the fuse index will be the same}

    Hi there, your problem could be that there is a clear plastic cover over the bottom contact in the lighter. Have a look and remove it with a pair of tweezers. Good luck.
