Does anyone know whether or not BMW will warrenty seat belt restraint system faults? I have a fault on the passanger side of my 2008 E66. I've checked connections and it seems as this could be the female side of the seat belt itself. Typically a manufacturer will warranty a safety issue like this for the life of the vehicle....
Or, does anyone have a testing procedure??? My scanner shows there's a problem, but doesn't give any direction or actual device failure... go figure...lol
Thanks,
Shawnski
There is no special seat belt warranty for BMW. There may however, be a special warranty extension on the passenger seat occupancy sensor. I don't remember the specific vehicles involved, but some got a 10-year extension, and some got a 15 year. Your dealer can look up the VIN to see if it applies.
I don't recall the E65/66 having any warranty extension on the seat mat sensors. But I've been wrong in the past.
And correct, there is no special lifetime warranty on safety parts.
