Anyone connected their AiM dashboard directly to the variable sweep resistors from their fuel tanks via an AiM analog input?
I'm a bit concerned to do that, because it seems most aim products measures Voltage on their analog inputs. To measure resistance, they provide a reference voltage and a voltage divider resistor (usual 2k ohms). So why the worry? I'm wondering what might happen if one puts a voltage across, and amperage through, a variable sweep resistor that's sitting in fuel.
Folks have done it from my brief research. I ended up big ballin and buying the bimmerworld fuel level adapter for AIM dashes. 80 bucks well spent if it works right. Will find out soon.
Ahhhh...the BW adapter! I'd forgotten about that. Big Ballin be worth it! I was wondering if I'd be annoyed by the fuel level jumping all over the place from the sensor being undamped. Might be worth $80 just to fix that.
There's a signal that goes to the OBC labelled something about fuel level or such. I may check that out first.
