Anyone ran their I6 / steering rack chassis without power steering? I've seen the rack block off plates to do so, just haven't seen anyone actually doing it.

Power steering without the "power" kinda sucks. Steering that's designed without power assist works better than power steering that isn't working. You'd be better off replacing the rack with one that was never designed to be hydraulicly boosted.
Find yourself a long, winding downhill and drive down it with the engine off but the key on...

Yeah, your best bet would be to try and retrofit a manual steering rack. Or just enjoy your power steering and occasionally replace the lines as they leak.

I haven't seen a manual rack for these cars...
I am in the middle of a "budget" turbo LS swap and getting accessories to clear the turbo stuff AND have power steering is proving to be more money than I want to spend.
