I recently replaced the passenger door handle on my E36 Convertible. I failed swapping the key cylinder from the old handle to the new (long story). I ended up having to drill out and remove the cylinder so now the handle has a hole where a key cylinder should be. Since the trim around rear door handles on sedans don't have holes for key cylinders I thought it might cover the key/cylinder hole in the passenger side of my car.
My guess is the sedans have smaller handles and ultimately smaller or incompatible trim. But I figured it was worth asking before I spend money to place an order for something I might never use.
Rear door outer trim door handles have same length, I just compared the gaskets I am selling for the outer door handle trim for front and rear. here I posted a pic https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...de-door-handle
Might work as you are planning.
