    730 Starter motor wiring

Hi all - have been replacing the cylinder head on a friends 730 - all has gone well - got the starter motor in today but I cannot remember where the two small wires go - there are two small locations on the solenoid (one on top and the bottom) - at this stage I have connected one wire to each (but have not tried to start it yet) - just wanted to run it past those who would know before I go any further - thanks in advance ----

    730 M30 M60B30 V8? Built year/month? did you check in the ETM? http://shark.armchair.mb.ca/~dave/BMW/e32/
Bentley repair manual says on page 121-10: typical starter wiring terminal identification: Large wire at terminal 30 is direct battery voltage. Smaller wire at terminal 50 operated starter solenoid via ignition switch. Check for battery voltage at terminal 50 of the starter motor with the key in ignition in the start position.

1989 730i M30 - there are two large wires (I know where they go) and two small wires - I don't have a manual and cant seem to find one online - theres upper and lower terminals for the smaller wires (looking at the back of the solenoid) but I am unsure which wire goes to which terminal ?

Thanks Shogun for your help - from what I could see in the workshop manual I had it correct - any rate - tried to start the old girl today - cranks over ok - no start - put a bit of fuel into the intake manifold and she fired right up - for a few seconds - the fuel pump is not running (fuse is ok) which is strange as it would start and run (roughly) before we took the head off - I am 99% sure I have connected everything up correctly - I really have little idea about electrical stuff (especially old BMW electrical stuff) - any pointers to where I should be looking would be greatly appreciated ! Cheers

also check the fusible links, the first 2 pics is the one which goes from near the battery to B+ pole and to the e-box in engine bay, where the Motronic and the main relay is located http://www.bimmerboard.com/forums/posts/377728/
the other one goes from battery to driver side rear passenger seat and is for the fuse box under rear seat

Well - we tested the power supply to the fuel pump - all good - pump not running - pulled out the pump and disassembled everything and tested the pump on the bench - worked fine - It must have been the electrical connections on the pump itself because once everything was reassembled and installed the car started and idled happily (a few more revs at idle would be better I think) - only issue is now that when the motor is revved there is a bit of a stumble before the revs climb - I am putting this down to the wrong spark plugs (I used some plugs from a 520 wreck until we can get a new set) thanks again Shogun for your help - will post again after the car has had a decent run.
