I have a pair of front seats from our '03 E39 (Montana grey leather) that i had swapped out for some sport seats. The base seats' leather are in very good condition, all the motors function but both seats have the dreaded "twist" thing going on.
If you were in my shoes, what would you do with them? Fix them and try to sell them, or just offer them for sale "as is" for someone who may be looking for cosmetically very good leather and they need new plastic side panels and switch knobs (easy to get)
I thought the sport seats I acquired had the heater function (and they don't) but I like them so much I'm going to leave them in until I can find heated equivalents. Thinking of fixing the base seats for spares or just flipping them..what would you do? THANKS!

Bump as I fixed the post to make a bit more sense....sorry!
You’re gonna find that not too many will be looking for the base seats. If they are in great shape, you’d be lucky to get a hundred bucks for them. At a local yard out here, I can get seats for $25 each all day long. I know most other yards charge $50. So, if the leather in your old seats are in great shape and you want to save them, might be a good time to learn how to properly fix the twist issue for your own good, store them for spares, or try to sell them, you never know, might be some guy out there that might just want to replace his old crusty grey seats, but most will go for the upgrade on better seats.

I anticipated these answers. Thanks for responding. I suppose if there was one in a million that just wanted better looking seats and I have these fixed it might be interesting...
