    Code diagnosis Help

    Hello,
    I recently bought a 2002 BMW 325Ci, and it has been one headache after another until this point, I haven't even been able to drive it yet. Only time it drove fine was the test drive and the ride home (go figure).

    It began with P0300 and about 4 specific cylinder misfires, to which I responded by replacing the PCV valve and hoses and then replacing the intake manifold gasket. Upon completion, that cleared all my codes but still gave a little bit of a rough idle, albeit nothing like before. I traced that rough idle down to a small vacuum leak located behind the intake manifold, to which I just plugged in to a small nipple located on the back of the intake manifold. Idle smoothed out, engine noise decreased, I was in the clear (I thought).

    Moved the car into a parking deck, and let it idle for about 5 minutes before the service engine light popped up AGAIN, this time with 3 new codes. P0313 (Misfire with low fuel) P0183 (Fuel Temperature Sensor A Circuit - High Input) and a P0175 (System too rich). I refuse to believe that my luck is just this bad and these things keep happening one on top of the other at the exact timing that I fix a different problem. I noticed last week a fuel injector appeared to be leaking a little, so I went ahead and ordered 6 new fuel injectors, but haven't re-noticed the leak since completing the intake gasket. Is there anything else that would cause these 3 codes all in conjunction? The timing of 3 new and unrelated codes immediately after working on it would be too suspect.

    Any help would be much appreciated!

    Well I would start with a smoke test to ensure the intake is fully sealed.

    Next would be to test all the coils as you do have misfire code. Also what shape is the spark plugs in?

    Have you tested the fuel pressure? Should be around 50psi at idle, and hold steady while driving too.

    Went and pumped 93 gas in it and that got rid of those codes and replaced them with normal 1345 and 1349 misfire codes. Here’s a list of what I’ve done to this point:
    NEW MAF
    NEW Intake Manifold gasket
    New Valve cover gasket
    New spark plugs
    New Fuel Injectors
    Swapped coils (code didn’t follow coil)
    New CCV and hoses

    At several stops along the way symptoms have cleared up momentarily. For example, after the manifold gasket, no symptoms for about 10-15 minutes. For the fuel injectors, engine codes cleared themselves, idled for 15 minutes, drove literally to the emissions testing, and idle started fluctuating while in line, drove it back home, got P0171, P0185, P0183, and 2 cylinder misfires, as well as a P0175.... cleared codes let it idle for a minute. Idle held a smooth 800 for a while, then starting bogging and surging after 3-4 minutes. My guess would be a vacuum leak at this point, even though i thought i checked all the hoses prior to putting the intake manifold back on after the PCV valve job. Any particular areas to look?
