    Front Fog Light Fault

    Hi,
I’m pretty much finished clearing issues with my 840 and should be putting into daily service next month.

The only issue which I’ve still got with the car is a front fog light fault. I’ve checked fuses and bulbs to no avail.

Ok closer inspection, it looks like the wiring at the bulb holder might be the culprit...

I’ve tried to get into the fitting to replace the section of damaged wire, but I can’t get past the green stuff which I guess seals the terminals from the elements. Does anyone know what my options are here?

I’ve tried to source a replacement bulb holder, but I’ve not managed to find one online.

    Thanks in advance

They do sell a new harness but it’s not cheap and I think a member here use to recondition old ones.

are you talking about the light strip in the bumper? If so, those aren’t fog lights (common misconception), they are flash-to-pass lights and in Europe they also double as additional high beam lights. The fog lights are in the pop-up light assemblies.

That’s interesting, thanks. I’ve not tested them to see if they work on Main Beam, so I’ll do that before I try replacing the bulb holder - perhaps just put some heat shrink over the exposed wire.

I’ll take another look at the headlight pods for the fogs then, thanks. It may just be a failed bulb.

Double check all your headlight wiring. There have been several instances of car fires due to destroyed headlight wiring. When I hearead about it, I checked mine and found this:20160911_145729.jpg20160911_150457.jpg

I replaced it with a completely new harness provided by a member here.
