Recently I began having a problem with the driver side rear door on my 2008 E66. It locks and un-locks using the remote as well as the comfort system via the door handle. It opens fine as well, but when closing, I can hear the soft close motor running, but it wont pull the door closed??? I'm not sure how the system actually works, but I assume the motor must pull on the shaft I see protruding at the lower side of the door near the hinge. Any help or guidance would be most appresiated!

There is an bmw sib bulliten about this and I think they extended the warranty for this also.
The bulletin doesn't cover the soft-close, it only covers the comfort access. Most likely the plastic cam is broken. There was a post here a while back on how to "fix" this yourself.
I took my B7 in for the recall and the dealer actually broke the passenger side soft-close function (I can also hear the motors running, but it won't fully latch). One of these days when I have nothing better to do, I will take the assemblies out and repair this. BMW did offer to install new latches for $650 each - ahh, NOPE!
