$10,000 to replace two high pressure fuel pumps

I just purchased a 2005 760li with 69,000 miles on it a few weeks ago and so far I've had a few issues pop up:

    DTC shuts off/dynamic drive inactive
Car stalls and engine dies while driving after start up
engine revs to about 1100 rpm while stopped
engines randomly revs higher while stopped/parked
    check engine light came on
thump from transmission when coming to a stop
noise coming from left front tire when making a right turn

I had a local BMW dealership do a diagnostic on it and this what the came up with so far:

We got yours checked out. Only two issues but may be more. We have to get past these two first. One, o2 sensors on bank 2. Two, tank vent valves faulty. The vent valves can make it stall. $1400.00+tax for o2's and 650.00+tax for tank vent valves. We would have to start with that first. Also they noticed trans fluid leaking at the pan. To re-seal that is 1300.00+tax. I would have to order all the parts and could have them next week.

I took the car in today to get the vent valves replaced and they found gas in the vent valve lines and he said that both hpfp are bad and need to be replaced.

The dealership wants $10,000 to replace both hpfp's.

After laughing to myself for about 20 minutes, i picked up the car and have been running through my head on what to do next.

Anyone on here have to replace the hpfp on these cars themselves or know where to get replacement pumps from that wont cost me more than the car?

I'm thinking the bad fuel pumps are the reason why im having idle/stalling issues.

I'm either going to fix it, sell it as is and take a massive loss on the car or drive it until i kill the car.

Outside of a couple issues, the car is in great shape and I'd hate to give up the car

    Thanks

I suggest you look a few posts down this forum for HPFP repair... this is a very common problem.

In my own car an unscrupulous mechanic had simply jammed some ball bearings in those vent lines!

Dude, don't bring any 14-year-old car to a dealer, especially not a V12 BMW, that is asking to be robbed. The HPFP can make the car stall, mine is doing that now - upon inspection it seems I was driving it with the diaphragm was torn in half - still waiting for the replacement to arrive from Germany but at least the problem was obvious and solved for 100euro+labor, not $10k!

BMW list price for the HPFP is $3,109. Each. Under $1,000 labor.
