    ATF fluid

Hello guys! I changed my transmission on 2005 X3 3.0 fluid and filter over the weekend but sort of nervous of driving it. Heard horror stories of ppl putting wrong fluid in the case. I crawled under and saw GM tag on the side but couldn't make out the numbers on it. At the bottom of pan 83220024359 is a sticker on fluid to use witch come to find out is not available anymore. I ended up using Maxlife ATF only because I had no choice and because I had to move vehicle. I asked a local mechanic on what he recommends, he mentioned zf fluid.. which worries me now. Has anyone used the Maxlife??
    Thanks in advance

Did you tell the dealer that you have an automatic transmission? Because telling you that for a GM automatic trans you need ZF fluid sounds strange. Probably they assume you have a ZF 6-speed manual transmission

ahh, you found it, I know it is a bit difficult to find when you use a smartphone. Some additional info, in case you want to post pics and upload them on the forum server, then use instead of 'post quick reply' the button "Go Advanced", then a new window will open, text you message, scroll down, there you find "Manage Attachments", Valid file extensions: doc gif jpe jpeg jpg pdf png psd txt zip

    Test forum is here https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/f...hp?123-Testing

    Hi.
If I remember correctly, x3 uses ATF (red stuf).
Do you remember what color was the old fluid.
It only comes down weather it uses ATF (red) or pentosin (green). Only some BMWs use pentosing, and they have green sticker saying 'pensotin only' on PS bottle.

When I drained, it was difficult to identify what color, someone else changed it before but fluid was super dark. It did had a hint of red. So far so good with Maxlife in it.
