Hi just looking to see of anyone would be able to point me in the right direction. I have recently replaced the plastic coolant flange on the back of the engine. The quick release hose connected to this seems to be leaking. I presume it is because there is no o ring in the hose any longer, my problem is I can't seem to find the correct replacement hose. It is the 1.9 4 cylinder engine, if anyone would be able to help with a part number or the like it would be great thank you.

Welcome to the Forum!
There is an O-ring inside the hose, and after 20 or so years, goes bad. The better thing to do is replace the hose, as it's not a separate item from the hose that I know of. Of course you could try to replace it was a generic O-ring, however it too will leak after a while as it was never designed to take that much heat..

Yeah that's what I was planning I just can't seem to find the correct hose. Looking at the engine diagrams it doesn't show the one I need.
I am going to assume this is a 2000 or earlier built car as you didn't specify.
Going on that assumption, it will be part #1 here: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=64_0822

That's what I thought, but it has confused me as on that diagram it shows it going straight to radiator. It looks like on my car that it goes to the water valve more like number 3. But 3 does not show it connecting to the plastic flange. Yes it is 2000 m43 engine.
While there wasn't many built without air conditions, it has to show both types, so pay attention. In this case it doesn't matter for that hose is the same from the back of the head to the heater core.

Sorry to revive old thread, on my car I have the hose going from the plastic coolant flange to my water valve, a hose from water valve to heater and then a hose from heater core to a plastic pipe above my alternator on the side of the head. Sorry if it is just me being stupid but does that mean I would need hose number 3 for that flange? Or is my car just wired wrong?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You are not reviving an old thread, as you are still asking relevant questions.
Correct, #3 goes from the engine block behind the alternator to the water valve. I would take a very close close look at that pipe as well, for they too can get brittle.

So that is correct then hose 3 from the engine inlet on back of head to water valve, water valve to heater core which is number 5 and then number 6 to the flange on the side of the head next to the alternator. I am just doing a refresh of all the cooling hoses on the system and I purchased all the hoses but hose number 1 does not seem to go on my vehicle.
Total newbie here and just trying to learn myself save me paying through the roof for jobs that I can tackle myself. Just want to make sure everything is correct.
