2015 535xi with mechanical key only

Hi. I bought a 2015 BMW 535XI and it only has the mechanical key and no fobs.
Is there a way for me to start the car with just the mechanical key so I can take it to the dealership for programming? The auction states yes but I am in New York and they are in Pennsylvania hence I’m trying to avoid a 3 Hour drive and realize that I need a trailer. The BMW dealership says not possible and wants $800 to program a key.
Thanks for your help. Thank you.

Dealer keys do not need to be programmed. You order the key, it comes pre-programmed to the vehicle from BMW, and you get in and drive. You need proper proof of ownership at the dealer, which is usually a title in your name. They will check this.

Don't buy cars at auctions, ESPECIALLY if they don't start and run. You can't get a key from the dealer, because you don't have a title in your name. And after all that, what if the engine or transmission is toast?

These cars have already been vetted by folks who will recognize and correct any easy fix. A bum key is a great excuse for a car that can't be tested.
"The auction states yes" so they've tried it? This implies the car runs "lot drives" they might call it
I'd plan on a trailer and a repair budget
