    Might be the end

This might be the end. I've had a few issues with my '98 Z3 2.8 bucking at low RPM (mostly just after shifting). Tonight on the way home from work, all the dash lights came on and started flashing, then all the lights went dead, the radio, the gauges all died off. The car was still running so I pulled over, shut it off and tried to restart and nothing. No turn over, nothing. I looked under the hood and there is oil everywhere on the drivers side. Not sure what's going on. I had to have it towed home (the shame). This might be the end. Or at least a look at it.

Not that I heard. Nothing noticeable. The only real symptom was the lack of power. I had recently switched out the CPS after the check engine light threw that error,

That sounds more like an electrical / power supply issue.

There was a guy on a group drive had a similar issue, not the oil leak.

Connector to the ecu had come loose

Thanks! I'll take a look at the ECU connector. The oil leak may be a separate issue. It happened at the same time, but who knows.

The oil leak was indeed a separate issue. It was dripping near the fan, so yea. The weird part -- now it starts and runs fine. So the electrical issue? I checked the wires going to the ECU and nothing seems loose. So.......... I guess we'll see what happens next. Would the ECU freak out if the oil got low enough from the leak? I wouldn't think so, but....something happened.

Check all you battery/ground main cable connections. There are a lot of them so start at the battery and work forward. One of these will really clean up the battery terminal.

There may also be a fusible link__hidden in heat-shrink tubing__in the main cable in the trunk. Finding that fault in a friend's '98 M Rdstr caused us fits, until we were pointed in the right direction by Randy W.
