    Replacing Soundproofing Foam in Doors

I pulled the door panel on My '96 E38 last night and replaced the shade. As expected the Sound foam is just deteriorating to Dust. I was thinking of each time I pull a door panel just clean out the old Foam really good and Use something Like this

You mean the foam weather shielding that is stuck on with that black butyl goo? I have NEVER seen those disintegrate. Not on any of my cars and not even on the cars in the junkyards. Hence the reason for my clarifying question.

If we're talking about that weather shielding foam, that should just be replaced, as it keeps water off the door panel and from leaking inside the car when the door is closed.

Actually, it's the foam on top of the weather shielding. So the order is
    Door skin,
    Weather shielding
    Disintegrating foam
    Then inner door panel

Do you have a pic? I'm only aware of that foam weather shielding that is stuck on the door frame with that black butyl goo. I haven't seen any extra foam besides that. Maybe someone installed it themselves for extra sound deadening?
