Found a 5 speed short part # 240 00 266 90 255 for my 82 320i Auto conversion for a reasonable price. It comes with cross member and flywheel.
If I get my driveshaft cut and balanced what am I missing- pedal box, shift selector, interior trim, new clutch, slave cylinder and line to tranny ?

This is what i got. Tranny flywheel, cross member, clutch and slave cylinder with the short line attached supposedly pulled from running car with 80k.
Does the trans have the shift fork? Is that an e30 or e21 trans?
Pressure plate and throwout bearing
Shifter console (sheet metal housing that bolts to trans)
Clutch master
Can't remember if you just cut the nub on the fluid reservoir that feeds the clutch master, or if you have to get a manual specific one, but worth looking into. There's a hard line that runs up to a short soft line connection at that reservoir as well.

Yes it has the shift fork and the clutch parts they all look good. Here is a picture of the speedometer cable on bottom left near the part number

Also make sure you replace the shift fork plastic nub. They have aftermarket ones that are bronze or stainless, but stock is plastic. With the trans already out, now is the time to do so.

I have a shift plate/arm if you need it. Id let it go for cheap...

Is that the whole assembly with the shifter included?
No it is just the plate (realoem calls it an arm). Check out realoem. I am using the shifter in my current car.
You should look to see if a double shear selector rod (DSSR) could work for you as well. Really improves the shift feel. Garagistic has quite a few sizes, maybe one works for the e21
Ok Looking at the diagram I now see the parts involved. I am filling my parts list as time allows. I'll check back with you.
240 back.jpgWhere is the plastic nub?
Unclip the spring to your left and it's under the shift fork.

Question is their differences in the shift assembly among the various trannys that fit the e21? Still collecting parts for my 5sp swap.

According to realoem there is, I have a pair of Getrag 245 5 sp both with complete shift assemblies and platform, No Getrag 240 though so you'll need to confirm.
From Realoem
Selector shift rod 9/79-9/82 is L=151mm Getrag 245
Selector shift rod 10/82- is L=288mm and shows for E30 as well, assumption Getrag 240.
Shifting Arm or Platform is different too in BMW Numbers
25111208464 Getrag 245
25111220316 Getrag 240--E30 as well
Getrag 245 and 240's are different in length and different in length of drive shaft, Guibo is different as well 8 holes and 6 holes.

Good to know I'll search for early e30 Getrag 240/5 parts too.
Took your advice I found these on ebay from a 85 e30 318. Ad read 82-88 e30 m10 1.8L.I looked at real OEM and the part numbers are the same for both models 85 318i and 11/82 320i.

I hooked up what i got so far and it shifts thru all the gear. I'm missing some plastic parts - lower cup, spring, clips and few odds and ends
I appears to be the correct parts. The rod has a short end I'm assuming the transmission coupler side and long end shifter side. How many plastic spacers do i need for the shifter rod? I'm not that familiar so learning as I go.

As many as it takes to take the slack out when the end has its clip or snap ring inserted ,, I used one on each end and it was snug.

I'll pick up more than 4 #6 plastic washers might need 6-8. the selector rod shifter side is a bigger end. FCP has mostly everything.
