Hi,
I'm new here, I have a 1970 2800cs coupe and am dipping my toes into the E24 world. I had a few questions concerning 1986 M635csi Euro Non Kat spec;
Were these items options or standard equipment?
- headlight wipers
- M labels on the seats
- Air conditioning
- cruise control
Many thanks and looking forward to learning more!
Brett
Welcome! I don't have a real answer for you. If I had to guess, I'd say only the seat labels were standard. The rest would have been options, but the Euro markets were totally different when it came to marketing.
The BMW VIN lookup might give you a hint, just enter the last seven digits of your VIN in a decoder like this one, and see what's listed in the options section of the build sheet.
Save the manuals!

Option on some- headlight wipers
Option, mainly m5- M labels on the seats
Option on most not all- Air conditioning
Option on some- cruise control
I have pristine 628/635 brochure and it mentions some optional equipment. It lacks a table with standard and optional trim however, and, this is a British brochure making the whole deal different again. I believe US-spec cars were better off option-wise considered to their European counterparts.

I's like to see that list, I know for sure my car was pretty empty. I have a German delivered car with very little options and I'd like to see if they were options at all. In other words, not only the TS is interested in the option list.
I've done that twice now, when I changed the brown cloth comfort interior with a beige sports leather interior, and some time ago whilst dismantling the car. Can't remember seeing a build sheet though.
If members are not familiar with the build sheet, it's a relatively small piece of paper. This is from my US 1989 635, build date 11/88. Located behind passages rear seat, folded and taped to the seat. 1989 BMW Original Build.pdfThe sheet had not been previously removed, I'm the 3rd owner.
