    2001 blower motor just quit

So yeah, my blower motor just stopped working today. Everything has been fine till now. Now nothing. No fan all.

I've googled it of course. I've checked fuse 20 and 81 under the hood. I guess 2001 didn't have a K4 relay?? Tried hitting the dash.

Mainly I'm needing some input because I see evidence the 2000+ may be sightly different. Most write ups seem to be for early cars. So before I order up a motor and resistor, I'm looking for any ideas or experiences of any testing I can do.

Thanks for anything you can throw my way!!

You've probably seen my thread on this. I've never looked to see if the wires are visible to test above the glove box or not on your year. It's most likely the resistor on the blower. You are correct there is not K4 relay so not sure the wire runs in the same area. Nothing I can really add beyond what's here:

@mayorchuck, Sorry, I bought a new house so this went on the back burner as I have been moving/improving/fixing for several straight months. But yes, I read your thread. Very helpful.

Things changed just after I made my last post. It stayed dead for about 2 days, then went full on mode at a set speed for about 5 weeks. Never turned off even with the car off. Now it's all over the place. On sometimes non-stop, off sometimes, then every once and awhile it works fine for a few hours. So I'm 100% positive it's my FSU. The other day, just as it was getting to be 80+ around here, it decided to be on a "off" kick. (started working about 2 hours later) but it's motivated me to move this up on the priority list. I was fine with always on, even after 4 days my battery was fine, but this off in the summer thing isn't going to fly. Ordering one now.

    Thanks for the input!

Yeah, I ordered both. Same reasoning. Plus one day it was making a funky sound when I got in the car during it's 5 week always on phase. It can't be good for it to be running 24/7, might as well be safe than sorry.

I had the same kind of problem. Mine was just a bad motor brush which cost $5 to replace. I had ordered both items for replacement but just sent them back. Getting the dash out is not bad once you have done it. Just go slow and if it doesn't move look for another clip or bolt. When you get them all it just comes up and out.

I got the blower/resistor in this week, however all car related stuff has gone on the back burner as I bought a new place and have been moving and getting the new place in shape that last couple of months. I finally just got the very last of my stuff moved, so it's back to cars soon! I'll report back with my results to add to the collective knowledge!
