Stickers - Just when you thought you had it figured out...

Just when you think you have a pretty good idea where things go, something new pops up. Every 8 I have seen has the battery sticker on the left side of the lip under the trunk lid above the bumper. Below is an example of a different position, which I can tell was originally placed at the factory.

Wolfgang was out sick the day yours was built, and Otto his temporary replacement spent the day putting the stickers in the wrong place. On a similar but different note, I'm still trying to figure out why my 96 850Ci doesn't have a coin holder in the door. Never did, no cutout for one.

Have also seen paint code decals on different sides.

I see the coin holder far more often on the older cars 91/92

So you've seen other 8ers without a coin holder? I've never seen another one without it, at least not a US version car.

You may have a UK spec door panel. That seems like it would be a good solution to that stupid, mostly broken, coin holder...

That may be, but I’m only the second owner, and the first owner was not the kind of guy who modded anything (a doctor who bought it new and traded it back to the selling dealer). So I’m pretty sure it came from the factory that way.

It's the same with paint label codes. I've looked at tons of pic of (E36) engine bays and while they are not "all over the place", there is variation.

I doubt there was an exact defined position for labels, unless there is a clear outline, like the trunk's toolbox lid.

Maybe the guy forgot to put it on on the assembly line. He then had to run down the line to catch up to the car and slap it on the first place he can reach.
