Time for some work with a magnet on a flex stalk.
Borescopes are nowadays pretty inexpensive and are used in conjunction with your cellphone. One of them would let you see just where in the cylinder the clip went, the better to use the magnet. It might also tell you, if you are really lucky, that the clip isn't in the cylinder at all. 'Course, you'll need them, so the borescope and magnet will help you find the little rascal(s).
Once in a while, a bit of bent wire with a bit of tape on the end can be used to retrieve things, so you have options.

Glad you got it out.
But how did that clip get loose? I suppose a previous owner pried them off at one time in order to make it loose. You're just supposed to press them in to pull off a plug.

More the pertinent question, how did you find and fish it out? I see a bent wire... but no magnet... inquiring minds wanta know!
