Issues to worry about.
Any repair that costs more than car is worth.
1) Have not done any suspension work yet.
2) Fuel Injector replacement?
3) Coolant transfer tube issues?
4) Transmission issues?
Owned 528I that at 100K had transmission issues with 4 passengers. Transmission would slip after long drives. No fault codes. BMW could recreate.
Son works at a Toyota dealer..says car is not worth 5K trade in.
Would like comments based on long life mileage owners. Are there any? I have concernes of reapirs based on the fact that they will come.
Would you have gotten rid of car if you knew the repairs after X miles?
Car looks great...dojn't want to hear "Have to pull the engine" ...
Any commebt would be great!
It all depends on how much you're willing to pay for ongoing repairs. Is it paid off? Would you buy a new vehicle with cash or take on a car payment? A new car payment could potentially be a lot more than repairing a paid off vehicle. Do you want a new car with updated technology and that "new car smell"?

First the car is not paid off. But my inquiry is about issues with the car beyond the 150K threshold. I have been changing oil every 5K with Moly additive. The engine does not burn oil. It uses 1qt every 2500 miles. From what I have read this is not un common or excessive. No blue smoke.
I am soon to need tires (rear at $600.00). In conversations with Non-BMW owners they all hate BMW. They say repairs are out of this world. What I am worried about is a failure (Radiator transfer tube)...Transmission failure. Other maintenance issues that make the extra 50K (miles) on odometer...too much of a gamble.
A 2009 650IC needs new suspension at 150K.
I was looking for other E64 owners who either had experiences of (Car will go 300K)or (Car fell apart at 170K).
I was good friends with Dianan BMW shop. They said that everything wears out or is designed to wear out at a certain time. They know what is wrong with a car (at a certain year or mileage) . They worry when something else is wrong that does not fit.
So again I was looking for (The E64 transmission is junk after after (X) miles...or the E64 Engine is shit after (X) miles....or I have had my E64 for 300K miles and what did this person do to make that happen?
