Hi there,
I have a 2004 X3, manual transmission, and I am installing an AVIN system in it: problem is that the AUX input is not enabled in my car's headunit. In other words, the headunit in my car cycles between radio and CD. I have already installed the AUX cable purchased from AVIN, but no luck. Any suggestions?
Thank you,
Jean
Well, after some digging I have found out that (in my case) I only needed the right cable: it turned out that the AUX cable purchased from AVIN was not a "complete" cable as it was missing the 300kohm resistor and the 22nF capacitors. Probably there are not many of you out there still looking to use the AUX input in your cars, but if you are looking to do such thing, please make sure you have the original, BMW made cable, or you might be lucky to strike one from eBay that has what it needs.
I am not sure, but there might be a chance that the AUX function on you Business CD radio does not need the resistor and capacitor to trigger this function, but before going into codding or replacing the original unit you have the right cable .
My radio cycles thru AUX function now, and all it needed was the cable that has those parts in it.
Thank you for all your help guys.

I am afraid that you are right: How hard would be to find a head unit that would work on my car and is capable of AUX input? I already have the cable...
Thank you.
