1985 635csi For Sale CA Low Miles, Great Condition

Finally selling the car that's been in my family for the last 18 years. 2 car family (I have the bill of sale from the original owner in 2001).

Beautiful and maintained southern California 1985 BMW 635csi - very hard to find, especially in this condition and under 100K miles.

In 2001, it had 82,458 miles and my uncle purchased the car from its original owner. It was used as a weekend driver until about 2005/2006. The car sat for about 4-5 years after my uncle passed and my father inherited it. In 2009, he spent about $5k restoring it (have receipts for all the work).

In 2010 it was moved from northern California to southern California where it sat, garaged until 2016 (only driven every couple months to keep it running).

In 2016 I took the car and it became a daily driver for me (about 92k miles on it). I have driven it for the past few years for my short commute. It now has 99,400 miles on it.

During the last two years, I've prepped the car for eventual sale. Have done almost $9K of work in the last 2 years, all performed by Joe at the M-Shop in Glendale. Here's the list of work done -

    - Brake booster replaced ($1500)
    - Brake master cylinder ($2000)
    - Transmission cooling line replaced ($250)
    - Repaired odometer ($350, probably drove about 200 miles while odometer didn't work, you can verify with maintenance records)
    - Replaced worn alternator bushings ($350)
    - Replaced power steering hoses ($600)
    - Replaced original leaking fuel lines ($180)
    - Cleaned and fixed sticky idle valve ($80)
    - Fix leaking oil pressure switch ($225)
    - Replace worn front steering linkage and worn upper control arms ($1000)
    - Replace worn pitman arms ($280)
    - Alignment ($90)
    - AC Service (blows cold now - $240)
    - Fixed heater issue ($280)
    - Replaced both rear axles ($900)
    - New rear brake pads ($280)

The car looks and drives very tight now. No leaks, no issues at all. It has been babied throughout its life. I have kids now and not enough time to maintain it. Time to go to someone who wants one of the nicest original E24s you can find.

Cosmetically, the interior and exterior are in great shape (besides a little wear on the driver seat, almost mint interior condition) and it just had a full detail. The only knock is a small inch of rust on the trunk area near the back window.

Mechanically, the only known issues from Joe at the M Shop would be the shocks are starting to wear (but not urgent) and the tires are 10 years old. Plenty of tread left but eventually the rubber will oxidize.

Up until a few weeks ago it was my daily driver - this car is ready to drive right now and I have the clean title in hand.

Asking $17,500, but willing to hear offers.

PM me or post here for more direct contact info.IMG_20170322_152512.jpgIMG_20171105_113338.jpgIMG_20171105_113311.jpgIMG_20171105_113326.jpgIMG_20171105_113410.jpg

Bump. Am I just priced way too unrealistically?

Nice car, but $17k for an auto 6er does seem to be quite excessive.

Thanks for the link. I've seen that car on Craigslist listed for 29k. It's a beautiful car and certainly worth more than mine.

I'm only asking 15k now, which is almost what we've put into in the last 10 or so years. I've seen cars go for 12k recently that had more miles, worse cosmetic shape, and little maintenance records. Hopefully I'll find a buyer who is looking for an under 100k miles E24 in great cosmetic shape with lots of maintenance completed already. I've detailed it out 3 different times and didn't list it because I thought I would end up keeping it. But, I've got kids and 4 other vehicles - this one needs to go to a new loving home.
