I'm looking to buy a 2010+ BMW SUV or wagon. What would be best in terms of reliability?
I'd prefer a normally aspirated engine without direct injection. Did BMW make any post 2010?
Thanks for your help and advice.
Maybe 2010 but I don’t think after.
Wow, zero recommendations for a reliable BMW post 2010.
For the record the 2011 X3 was available with the N52 3.0 liter engine. I think this is the last BMW SUV available with a NA 6 cylinder.
I'll have to say, that believe it or not, the i8 has been one of the most reliable BMW's I've seen come through our shop. Aside from routine maintenance, and a recall on the fuel pump for the pressure sensor, they just don't have issues. Not that I've seen. I've never had the battery out of one. I've never done any engine work on one. My mom's boyfriend is on his second i8, and it's got 30k on it. The i3's have far more problems than the i8's do. I can't count how many batteries I've had out. Same goes for the F15 PHEV, and other active hybrid cars. Constant check engine lights, airbag lights, etc.

I plan on getting a few older cars experience cars to keep for fun. After that and when the budget allows, I look forward to buying a 100% electric car for daily driver duty.
Forced induction, direct gas injection, and super complicated transmissions seem to have ruined modern cars in terms of reliability.
Anything with the NA straight six, which does not leave a lot of post 2010 SUV/Wagon options:
1. E91 328i wagon
2. 2010 X5 3.0 (2011 went to the turbo 6)
3. 2011 and maybe early 2012 X3s. This is the most modern option as it was a new model in 2011.

Awd and automatics make thing less reliable, so that eliminates the SAVs.
So it turns out the most reliable modern BMW SUV or Wagon is a Mercedes GLK 350 or at least that is what we ended up getting.
I initially test drove one to rule it out, but they actually drive great and are pretty quick. No turbos or forced induction, just a nice big reliable 3.5 liter V6. The only downside is the poor gas mileage (around 25 on the highway).
