2002 BMW E46 M3 / 6 Speed Manual Transmission / No Sunroof
$ 18,600
Local pick-up in the Atlanta area only. No shipping or long distance deals.
This is the car pictured in this Grass Roots Motorsports magazine article from May 2011, with me at the wheel in the SCCA STU solo autocross class. The car still runs great, and remains prepared to the limits of the SCCA STU class, though I have not run this car in quite a few years.
I purchased this car in 2008 from its second owner, and the car has been in my family since then, being used mostly as a weekend car by me, and then in daily use by my daughter from 2013 up until the end of 2018, when she bought a new car and gave this one back to me. Now I have three “weekend cars”, so this one is up for sale.
Features include:
This is a no sunroof car, so no worries with the dreaded BMW sunroof drain wet carpet drama.
Fitted with D-Force wheels, 18” x 9.5” et 43mm offset
Six (6) spare OEM M3 wheels in excellent condition are also included with the car
Almost-new Bridgestone RE-71R tires
Koni double adjustable coil-over Struts / shocks with 550 lb/in front springs & 700 lb/in rear
Corner weights professionally set
Ground Control front camber plates
Ground Control adjustable front sway bar with Hyper-Flex bushings
PowerFlex bushings front and rear
Turner Motorsports rear lower control arms with adjustable camber
Vorshlag polyurethane motor mounts
Vorshlag strut tower brace
AKG Motorsport transmission mounts
Replaced rear view mirror with more reliable BMW manual mirror
Pedals have been modified with 1 ½” spacers to allow short legged driver to sit far back from the steering wheel. These are ideal for a driver under 6 feet tall, but are easily removable if desired.
Rear chassis reinforcement professionally installed as preventative maintenance (no cracks when performed)
Vanos replaced in 2018
Rod bearings replaced when BMW recall occurred when the car was new under a previous owner.
Headliner professionally replaced in 2018
Oil & filter changes every 5,000 miles or less (changed about every 6 months regardless of mileage, which frequently has been about every 3,000 miles)
Paint & body are in good condition. Maybe not concours condition, but pretty nice - see photos
All records available since I purchased the car in 2008.
Notes concerning Carfax report:
Carfax has six owners recorded for this car, when it is actually only three. My understanding is that the first individual leased the car when it was new, and later bought car when the lease expired, so this would be Owner 1 & 2 in the report. Owner 3, who I purchased the car from owned it for 3 years. I am “Owner 4” in the Carfax report starting in 2008. In 2014 my daughter started driving the car when she had some small problems with her E36, and mid 2014 I legally transferred the car to her, but I still maintained it. Then in 2018, she bought a new car and transferred this back to me. So, my daughter is “Owner 5” in the Carfax report, and I am both “Owner 4” and Owner 6”. Confusing I know, but the bottom line is car has not really changed hands in the last 10 years, and has been carefully maintained.
Also seen in the Carfax report: My daughter had two small accidents while she drove the car: One time a person side swiped her in the right rear corner in a very tight parking deck. The BMW dealer’s body shop repaired it completely. In the second incident, she entered oncoming traffic on a left turn and the impact was to the right front fender. All work was professionally performed to the highest standards, and there are no lasting effects to the car from either of these events.

This would probably do lovely on Bring a Trailer.
Great looking rare car at a reasonable price. Won't last long
Hey, thanks for the bump.
As others suggested, I did check out the BAT auction site, and I have to say, I just don't get it. I'm somewhat OK with paying a $ 99 listing fee, but then they want to charge the buyer a 5% commission - WTF?
As Gordon Gekko said: A fool and his money are lucky to get together in the first place!
Is the car still available?
