Building an e36m to be the lightest possible while staying in budget. I will attempt to accomplish by doing as much as possible by myself. I’m no mechanic but not that bad at turning a wrench . Looking to add value to the group in answering questions i had challenges with.
I started with an e36 m3 1995. The previous owner started build but only for street and a few track days.
he had some stuff removed and a rear hoop installed. This is where i begin to have fun!
The rear hoop was installed using 1.5 / .95 which means to get to tech in compliance i will need to weigh under 2500lbs. we didn’t scale first but I’ll let you know the progress as we get there.
My goal is to build a full race car, and will probably go into c mod and get s54 swap

I decided to remove all wires instead of thining it out. I plan to run aim or racpak, meanwhile looking for dme without EWS. Red label 413.
Don't know how much help this'll be, but my SCCA Autocross Street Modified legal built '93 325is Coupe was 2,380lbs with probably another 50lbs of somewhat low hanging fruit.
When you say you removed "all the wires", did you really remove "all the wires"? If you're planning to run the OEM engine management, I suspect you're in for a world of hurt now.

Thanks i should have no problems hitting 2300 then
i did pull out “every” wire.
Im putting cage to front towers so panel and fuse box needed to be relocated, chassis wiring is jus a disaster. I can get the engine side wired up pretty easily without ews, and will run oil, fuel, rpm, water temp, and gps for speed into a racepak. I’m only slightly scared lol

So today i took even more risk cutting out weight. I couldn’t find a lot about removal of the bulkhead. I talked to a few people and decided to cut away.

Oh this is looking good!! Love seeing these cars completely stripped, and only the needed items installed.
Reworked the cage design. Should be done with fab and start paint next week. I’ve decided to sacrifice the season and build it right
Here’s a few updated photos from RT Fabrication and design. Stay tuned. Also we found the cage was built with 1.20 so weight isn’t as scary to hit but we still are looking to go as light as possible
