Extended Service package on 2016 535i

Buying a 2016 535 MSport with ~24k on it. CPO so it just had Inspection 1. I can roll $1800 into financing for extended service until 75k miles. I wrench on cars a good bit myself, but $1800 doesn’t sound too bad for BMW service for 50k miles. I figure that’s about 3 oil changes, a complete service 2, and probably brakes and possibly belts by the time I get close to 75k miles. It’s stupid that BMW service doesn’t transfer to second owner now. What would you do?

If I was I doing this, I'd spend the $30 for a day and review the service bulletins for your car on this website https://www.bmwtis.com/
anything that hasn't been fixed is subject to failure and will cost you $$ if you don't extend the warranty. If there are no bulletins and the service history on your car is clean, I might save the money and set that aside for repairs, especially if you're able to do things on your own. by the way $1800 x interest rate over the life of the loan is the real cost your paying to extend the service, not $1800. good luck.

Make sure you clarify what is included bmw has been removing items that used to be covered. The car does not have service intervals like my car had oil service inspection 1 or 2. Speak plugs are probably done at 60k and air filter. Make sure brakes are covered. What are the cpo measurements of the pads now and how much do you drive the car. If you don't really put a lot of miles on it then the $1800.00 will be a waste of money. It would only maybe pay for it self if you end up needing front and rear brakes. Oil changes, cabin and air filter don't cost so much and if you wrench are easy.

There is no more Inspection 1 and 2. And you'll be throwing away at least half of that $1800. F10's don't eat brakes anymore. I've seen 80 and 90k miles on the first set of front pads and rotors. The rear pads may get changed more frequently, but it won't need rotors.

Front brakes get changed much more frequently due to pulsing/vibration while braking (warped rotors is the layman's term, even though they technically aren't warped, it's "variations in thickness" according to BMW). And your maintenance plan won't cover that. Neither will CPO, only new vehicle limited warranty.
