After parking, my 530i makes a sizzling noise that seems to come from rear axle. Sounds like eggs being fried. It otherwise drives normally. No big deal?
All abnormal sounds should be investigated.

How long does it last? Happens every time? Have you just noticed it, or has it been there a long time? Any smell?

Maybe try carefully touching the rear wheels to see if they are really hot. If so, maybe one of your brake calipers is sticking. Could also be something that got caught on your exhaust and is burning, like a plastic bag.

"Seems"? Have you stuck your head under there. If it goes on for 5-10 minutes I would think you'd be able to pinpoint the exact location which would give you better diagnostic possibilities. Outer axle, inner axle, both sides, entire length, under the trunk, "while standing at the side I hear."..."seems" leaves a lot of wiggle room.
Put it up on a rack after driving ASAP. A good inspection will removed doubts and SWAG guesses.

$1 says a diff. or wheel bearing is making this noise, never heard it described this way but it fits.
If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you have enough horsepower. - Mark Donohue
Now I'm also hearing a very audible dripping noise coming from the same area. I think the cars gonna blow up.
To the scrap yard !
