    Short shifter options for 5-speed

    Hi all,

My 330i/5 has some random shifter in it at the moment (had to replace the one it had when I first bought it since it scraped the driveshaft) so I was looking to get a proper short shifter for it. I don't want anything too short or notchy, but I want something a little sportier than the stock shifter. What's a good OEM short shifter? The Z3 shifter? 545i shifter? Any pointers would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

The OE short shift kit for that car is the Z-3 shifter. This just drops the knob down about an inch, so you might want to think about getting a weighted knob to make the throws easier.

Gotcha, that's what I figured but I wanted to double check. I have a ZHP knob now so that should make things fairly easy.

How tight is your current shifter? Would be worth the time to replace the bushings to clean up any slop.

I'm using the dinan ssk doesn't feel super short tbh, but it's probably more than you want to spend considering you asked for OEM shifters. I replaced all the bushings in it and used the upgrade nylons or whatever kit ECS had. Feels superb, the only thing I didn't do but kinda wishing I did was the DSSR.
