In it's own right it is a beautiful car. If it wasn't labeled as an 8 series I would have thought that it was an updated 6 series. Being marketed as a replacement for the original 8, I think BMW really missed the mark with this design. It looks the same as all their other models. I think I will keep my original 1997 840ci and wait 3-5 years for the depreciation to take hold before buying this "replacement" for the original 8.
i don't even look at cars without manual option . My previous "new" car was a manual 650i convertible.... afterworths i bought the last ! manual 530d touring
so no more shopping at BMW for me.....

Not a fan of that car's looks at all...beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say, but I'm just unable to see any semblance of beauty in it, from any angle.
Current:

Rough crowd. This highly anticipated and newly released car hasn't garner much love from this group of enthusiasts. Is it really the look, or is it really the price, or is it both?
In due times when the purchase price of a used one is low enough and most people on an average income are able to buy this new platform as an addition to their BMW stable, it will gain popularity.
The e31 is heavy, slow, and expensive straight out of the assembly line. Who wants to spend that kind of money on a bloated pig? But hey, look where it is now...time will soften even the toughest hearts.
Saw a couple close up in person at our local dealership. As much as I love it, I wouldn't buy one...even if I had the money. But hey, give it 10 -15 years, prices are in the low teens, I'll pick up one in a heart beat!
Nope does not do it for me ...... the i8 is the one that does it and far closer to the 850 (innovative car, technology and design wise just like the "real" 850).
