    BMW 650 2006 Flush Engine

    Hi Everyone,

my first post here I have BMW 2006 650 200000 km mileage, I have a check engine with code 2A89 exhaust vanos 2, I cleaned the sensors and switched the exhaust with the intake, I still have same error exhaust vanos 2, my mechanic is telling me I should flush my engine, am not sure if flushing is good as I know the N6B48 engine is sensitive, and I don't want to break it, so please if anyone can advise what shall I do.

    Thanks a lot.

Thanks a lot Timm for your reply , am gonna show it to my mechanic, the weird thing is that before i got this error, i was having miss fire, the mechanic put a smoke machine on my engine and there was smoke getting out so i changed the head gaskets, then i had this error, as well i have to add one liter of water everyday, and oil level is getting low.

before this I didn't had any issues of the above.

    Thanks.

If the heads were removed, (which would be rather strange as a smoke test will not find head gasket leaks) then I would guess that the camshaft timing was not correctly adjusted and he needs another stab at it. However, I would guess that the valve cover gaskets were replaced rather than the head gaskets - and that will not affect the timing - and then we are back to the original diagnosis.
