I never thought this would ever happen to me, but last month it sadly did. Driving to work and breaking in time for the car in front of me and an F-150 hits me from behind. Not a horrible accident. I could still drive away and I didn't have to go to the hospital but needless to say, my heart is broken.
I am selling or hoping to at least, sell my 1999 E36 Estoril Blue/Dove Gray M3. The insurance company after their appraisal has deemed it a total loss and it's been a battle to negotiate a settlement with these crooks. Still not satisfied but I am out of options at this point. I was in disbelief for a long time after the accident that I will no longer have this car. Yes, I can surely fix it, but I think it is time to move on. AS OF RIGHT NOW, NO PART OUT. I will also not be willing to discuss the settlement from the insurance.
This car will, in fact, carry a salvage title. I would MUCH rather this BMW go to some enthusiast or someone who wants a track toy vs the auction lot. It's in great shape, all things considered. It's still driveable. The battery is dead because it wasn't started at the body shop for 2 and a half weeks while debating with the insurance.
It's still very clean and I babied it for the two years I owned it. I bought it at 77k miles from a small dealer in Maine and in those two years, I only put 10k on it. So it's sitting at 88k now. I will not be driving it but will if there is someone local that wants to do a test drive. The car has been taken care of by RRT here in Sterling, Va.
Just some items of note. There is no glovebox sag. I believe the glue for the headliner is loose but it has NOT peeled off from the corners whatsoever. It is holding strong. Seats are in great shape. Slight wear on the driver side bolster. Original floor mats are included and never been used by me. Aftermarket radio installed. No other upgrades were done to speakers. Currently, the car has the stock M3 Contour II wheels. The ARC-8s are in storage and would come with.
If you want specific about the extent of the damage done and what needs to be fixed, I do have a breakdown of the work involved I can share if interested.

i may have missed it, but is there a price?
You didn't miss it. I purposefully didn't put one on there. Just wanted people to make "reasonable" offers and see what we can come to an agreement on. PM if you're interested.
Gotta have a starting point, forum rules. Plus it helps people begin the negotiation.
Otherwise, as always, I offer tree fiddy.
I feel like it would be a steal for anything under $5000 if the Apex wheels go with
Ah, ok, did not know the forum rules. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Yes, I think 5k is a good starting point.
Wow! So sorry to hear!! We were going back and forth about me purchasing it when you were ready to sell and now this. Gorgeous car that was well maintained based on the conversation I had with the shop that worked on it. GLWS.
Yeah, I agree. I wish I would have done the same. It was laughable when I heard back from the adjuster on what he saw when he took a look at my BMW. They honestly have no idea what they are doing. Having an older car these days just doesn't seem worth it unless you have a lot of cash lying around.
Where in VA are you?
I was able to get a quote for my 1999 M3. Where are you seeing that restriction?

Many classic car insurance companies have what they refer to as "Special Interest Cars" and will provide the same coverage and restrictions as they apply to any classic car. I had my 2000 M Roadster covered by Grundy for years. I did have multiple other cars covered on the same policy.
would look really nice sitting next to my Estoril 328i msport....
I'm new to the forum but interested in an E36 M3 for track use; yours looks very well cared for. Sorry you got rear ended. I'm interested in buying it, I sent you a DM.
I also have Hagerty coverage on a ‘97 993 C4S and an ‘86 944 Turbo. I know they don’t have a blanket 25 year limitation.

what happened to the dtm wing? did it get damaged in the accident?
is the wing reusable by any chance?
