And don’t forget to get the axle bolts with the dif!

I couldn’t find them cheaper then 10 bucks a bolt.

Quick update. Been busy over the summer, not much time for car. I got it running without the turbo installed. Now I’m buttoning up ods and ends. Got the driveshaft made. Going to drop off piping to get bov flange, iat bung, and beads rolled next week. Scavenge pump and lines for drain are done. Just needs wiring for pump and electric fan.

Happy to find out the red relay in the ebox ran to the aux fan wiring. So I’ll just control the relay with the gm ecu and presto fan! I’m running a China knock off M5 radiator and a single flex a lite fan that does 3000 cfm. Hope it keeps temps at bay.

Looking nice. You are getting there!

It is amazing how much time the last 10% takes!

I used a local place. Drivelines NW. they did a good job. It was like 360 then I had them do the center bearing which was another 120. Center bearing seemed a little pricey but didn’t want to screw with it. Not sure if that’s a good deal or not but seemed like a fair price.

Thanks for posting pricing, that was for them to convert it to work correct?

That was for them to put on the yoke and T56 input which I supplied.

I’m back! Had to put everything on hold for the most part to finish remodeling my bedroom and bathroom.

Had the intercooler pipes bead rolled and welded the bov flange on.

Was going to pay someone to make a aluminum fan shroud then called zionville. I asked for a blank shroud without the coolant reservoir. I thought I heard 150 on the phone so I jumped on it but he must have said 250. O well it looks good. I have to drop it off to get a recess for the turbo pipe welded and the bung on the coolant reservoir moved to the side.

I have been wanting to see if I can get a stock shifter for the sikky short throw. I bought a used shifter on eBay and cut the top off, drilled and tapped it.

I made one of those mistakes today that really pisses you off. I forgot to change the scavenge pump polarity. So I was pumping oil into the turbo from the return. Didn’t notice until there was a giant mess.

Also not happy with my intake, should have done the bov somewhere else.

Got the fuel pump installed. I should take some pictures. I did 3/8 nylon lines.

Some pictures of coolant lines for other swaps.

Got a new brake booster in, blower motor, and fuel regulator. The brake booster had a pin hole leak. I had originally planned to use a corvette regulator but the walbro 450 is too powerful for it I found out. So new fuel supply and regulator.

Went to go drive, it backed out fine but when I go to turn the rear wheel shutters. I bought a used dif on eBay and didn’t check it before install so pretty sure that’s it and why it only happens when turning.

Haven’t figured out what I want to do yet. I was planning to install a wavetrac down the road but if I’m pulling the dif again maybe I’ll do it now? I might also refresh the suspension and bushings. Kind of threw a wrench in everything. I wanted to get some miles on it before doing all this.

Found the problem.. the dif was welded.

Anyone want to buy a 210mm 3.15 welded dif?

I have always been told to not use the corvette regulator in a turbo setup due to it not having a boost reference, i went with an aeromotive 1000, what are you going with as far as the new fuel setup?

Kept the same pump and went with aeromotive for inline filter and fuel pressure regulator.

My dif saga continues. The E46 dif I bought was packaged like crap. I thought the E39 540i dif and M5 dif were both 210mm housing. I was wrong, the 540i is a 215mm housing that nothing swaps into. Great.

The welded dif is I’m going to sell. I already bought another 540i dif that’s in good shape and ripped it apart to put the gears in so I guess I’m going to rebuild it back to stock and chuck it in .

I really want to start driving so I guess I’m going to hold off. Really wanted to get a lsd and 3.62 gears in now because it will happen down the road...

I feel you on the lsd and gears man. One wheel peels for a bit.

    E39 5.3L Turbo Swap

Got the dif back together and installed finally. What an ordeal... between that and life I have been in a holding pattern until this weekend.

Welded up a exhaust that dumps right before the rear wheels (turn down isn’t on first photo). Tired of crawling around on my creeper to fabricate. I’m going to leave it like this until I can drive and get more motivation.

Finished some other odds and ends like headlights lens and evoxr. Had my abs unit rebuilt, got a turbo blanket, and threw on some new rear brakes.

I have a cable on order for inpa so I can bleed the abs unit. After that and topping fluids I’ll be ready for another go at a drive! O and I didn’t like my first cold side setup into the throttle body so I’m waiting for 22RPD to finish welding up the new one. Then I should be good to go!

Did some laps around my house and got up to temp. No issues so I’ll slowly put some more miles on while I wait for an opening at tuner.

Great to hear the progress! I was worried about the fluids on the ground in that picture until I realized it was at a gas station.

You are driving! That is great news.

Hah! I didn’t notice until after I took the picture. I was wondering if someone was going to ask but not me for once.
