    Crank no start

I own a 97 e36 328ic m52b28 bmw and about 2 weeks ago my wife gave birth we left it home and I took the wagon to the hospital and it sat for these 2 weeks. I have charged the battery, starting fluid, etc to no avail the fuel pump seems like it working and I’m getting fuel to the rail and there’s no smell to it when I go near the rear of the motor and try to smell when cranking. On Wednesday though I did open the car using the key and I had armed the security the night before and forgot so the alarm kept going I disconnected the battery because for some reason the remote wouldn’t disengage. came back the same night and it started no problem no check engine light nothing. Now when I try to start it it just cranks constantly and sounds like it wants to start but just won’t anyone have any ideas? I need this fixed please.

It might be an alarm problem (though I don't know much about the late e36 alarm systems or what it has have control over) or ignition . Run through the fuses in the car, looking at the alarm and ignition system specifically. A health check on a the battery wouldn't be a bad idea as a faulty battery can cause a mess with computers in the car.

I already had the battery tested when I had it charged it was good. I’ve also already checked all the fuses and they’re in contact and look healthy.I’ve read that the keys have a chip to bypass the immobilizer. my thoughts are it’s spark because starting fluid didn’t work.

Have you done a spark test? test all 6 plugs and if there is no spark it could be your ecu or your security module.

Sorry for the late reply. first remove all coil packs. Get yourself a spark tester or you can stick a screwdriver in the coil and let it rest on a metal surface (cam cover) and crank the motor over and look for a spark jumping from the screw driver to the metal surface.
