1996 BMW 328i Convertible 5 Speed Transmission Question

I'm looking at purchasing a 1996 328i convertible. It has the m52 5 speed, but what 5 speed transmission is it?

I've done some research, but most of what's popping up are people selling the transmission and saying it will work for that year.

Does it have the getrag up to a production date of 5/96 and then they switched to the zf in June of 96 for production?

96 seems to be a weird year, so any insight would be helpful!

I have an early 328 Convertible, production date 11/95 that has the ZF transmission. Both of my 328's are pre face-lift and model year 1996.

I believe all 328's had the ZF but you could probably try different production dates in realoem to find out for sure. The 323's all got the getrag manual transmissions.

It is pretty easy to see the difference visually between the transmissions, you could ask the seller for a picture. You could probably get a good enough pic by just reaching under the car with a phone to verify it hasn't been swapped.

it indeed had the zf transmission. I wasn't quick enough to buy it though
