There is the same problem as Lee Young-sang. Do you happen to know the solution?
This phenomenon produces noise when driving for more than 20 minutes and turning the handle more than 90 degrees.
Thank you for reading it.
I see you're in South Korea, so there may be some translation problems going on here? Is it safe to assume that your car IS NOT 96 years old? Instead, you're stating that you have a 1996 540? FYI, your signature states it's a 1997. Also, by "handle", I think you mean "steering wheel"?
This only happens AFTER driving for a while?
How easily can you feel the "clunk" in the steering wheel?
Will the same thing happen if you put the front end in the air? Somehow, you need to get underneath (safely!) and touch/look/feel while someone turns the wheel. Chances are good you can find the culprit that way. Could be the steering... could be in the suspension. Maybe someone else, though, can give a little more detail - but without a video of YOUR car, it may not be very helpful. If it only does it with weight on the wheels, then you need to get the front up on a platform (easily built) so you can slide underneath. You MIGHT get lucky by just reaching in between the wheel and the fender.
My guess would be a dry U-joint in the steering shaft.
