    Wife flooded BMW

So this happened to my wife today leaving her house. Shop and sheriff seem to think it will dry out and be fine... call stalled water never got in

Local shop says he won’t try and crank it and wants to wait in the Ins adjuster to come out. Says since it’s ‘10 it’ll likely total

    ouch.

before trying to start it. definitely dig down into he spare tire well and check for any water. it shouldn't get in there, but that is where a lot of the "magic" boxes are kept. they are under the spare tire. under a cover, and under a styrofoam cover. if there is water in there, things can get messy in a hurry.

i would also shine a light around the battery to see if any water got down in that well.

hopefully it just stalled because the exhaust backed up. i am not sure what damage water can do to the cats, but that could also be a concern.

Sorry for your mishap. If you have active roll stability (ARS), the control module for ARS is mounted in the right front wheelwell, at the rear, behind plastic wheelwell liner. It would have been under water.

Yup, gonna call that totalled. It may dry out fine and operate, but likely still totalled. If you want to take the risk on it and buy it back, you can - but I'd check for water intrusion very, very carefully.

They tried to crank it this morning. Just kinda rrrrd and clicked. I know there is all kinds of electric things under the spare in the trunk

She’s in a rental til Ins looks at it. She’s happy cause the rental is what she wants next

That car has 206k on it and would be paid off in a few months

I don’t know what the payout would be totaled. Hoping for more than I think it’s worth. We shall see I guess.

Easiest way to check for water intrusion is to pop out the air filter and see if it's wet. If it is, tow it somewhere and have the oil changed and removed the plugs and blow out the cylinders before trying to start it. Trying to turn it over with water in the cylinders can still do damage.

Cars totaled. Ins offer will leave about 2500 to go toward something else. Couldn’t have worked out better. Now just have to move quickly while the wife has the rental

Oh God this is horrible I'm glad everything is ok, poor wife lol. I think I would have broken up with her hahaha. Kidding, I'd get over your jealousy and save your relationship honestly. But I would have been hella mad. Omg I think she was so confused and scared about what happened. But I am glad you didn't seem to react that bad. My wife ruined my ps4 once. I still like to play even tho I am a grown-up man lol. I was so angry but yeah we got over it. Even though I didn't talk to her for 2 weeks hahaha.
