    2011 X5 air suspension issue

    Morning guys!

when i left the house this morning i noticed my X5 was looking very low at the back end, thought there may have been a flat tyre. Started engine, looked again and the car was back to normal, after looking around the forums i found it is most likely a fault with the air suspension? i have read that if left too long it cause problems with the air compressor and may result in it needing replacing? So my question is should i take to be looked at straight away or could this just be a one off? Should i leave it a few days / weeks and see if it happens again?
Thanks in advance, have a good day guys 😊

Well you certainly could monitor it the more common problem would be the air bag or air spring could be failing theydevelop cracks and leak. Have some body lift the car and inspect. TWhen replacing the bag you have to make sure it folds evenly around this lower piece or else it will be off and the bag will wear out in about a month

On our '08 I waited until it happened more than once a week and then did it. Bought the parts well ahead of that but made time once it started happening more frequently.

Yep. Sounds like it's time to replace the bags. We do them all the time.

Well the first thing is to monitor the period when the vehicle is losing pressure in the airbags. Say, if it is happening over night, that will certainly indicate holes in the air bags or leak in the piping system. Easy to check the leaks in the piping system from your backyard. In the battery compartment you are able to see the piping and air receivers, with soap foam you are able to see leaks. I have also witnessed leaks in the Compressor unit on the solenoid distributor valves.

    All the best
