So I was cruising along in the process of replacing my passenger side window regulator in my 2003 M3 and noticed the (previous owner?) had put some duct tape to hold in the screw that attaches the back of the window to the window regulator...
I got the window out easily and then pulled out the destroyed regulator. I was curious why the screw was loose so I tried screwing it in to the window outside the car just to make sure its the right one and and it seems that the screw doesn't even screw in to the nut in the window at all?
Is this this wrong screw or are the threads just messed up or something? It almost seems too short for the threads to catch when I put it through the plastic sleeve.
(The screw that was in the door seems to be almost slightly triangular too.)
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Yes, that is all correct, had to go out to the garage just to make sure as I have an extra set on the shelf!
If the bolt is cross-threaded, you will need a new one, and it has to be a reverse thread one too. P/N: 51338238411
