Picked up a 95 3.15 Open Differential Carrier unit

This hasn't been directly answered to me, but I have a 95' 3.15 open differential carrier. I want to put a LSD in my 01 sport.

So if I go this route to get my LSD in my car, is all I need is to purchase the differential unit out of the E46 M3 and then do what exactly? The E46 M3 LSD is a 3.62 differential gear, so would my car have a 3.62 LSD or a 3.15 LSD?

His profile indicates that he's got an 01 740i, so he should have a 215mm diff, not a 188mm.

Hahahaaa for whatever reason i thought e46....that's what i get for not reading lol

should it be a 210mm instead of 215mm or does the 7 series have their own unique thing going on?

BMW made both 210mm and 215mm diffs. Which is part of the unfortunate reason it's not just as simple as bolting the 3.15 LSD setup from an E39 M5 into the car.

The conversation is putting the e46 lsd unit in the 95 rear diff case with the 3.15 ring gear.

From my research both the 95 740 and the e46 m3 are both the same size allowing the transfer of the LSD diff into the e38 unit. Since they changed the size of the 7 series case after 95.
