I have a 2000 Z3 2.8, with the HK Setup. I have a few questions.
1. Which amp drives the speakers, and which one drives the sub?
2. If I unplug one with the other continue to function?
3. Car came with no books, so I have the code display on the radio, it's the stock cd player model. Is there a place to retrieve the code for free?
4. anyone have the pinout for the amp harnesses.
Explanation: Do to a poorly installed seal around the rear deck of the convertible top and trunk lid water has intruded into the trunk, and down the seat backs. The speakers behind the seats are blown due to the water, the sub box is broken, though the sub itself looks ok. The amp on the RIGHT side of the trunk was causing blown fuses. I hope this was the SUB amp. I will be replacing most of this come spring, but just need some tunes in the mean time. I'll post a picture of what I found inside the amp if anyone has any ideas.P_20190216_154341.jpg
If you have the dual amp system then the sub amp is on the driver side (us) trunk. The passenger side is the rest if I remember correctly. I read where others have found adapter harnesses at crutchfield. I would replace the amp with a aftermarket 5 channel and ditch the sub amp too (if applicable). This way you can use better speakers(poly)
Seems to be correct. I put in a new radio thinking it might be an issue with the original unit, and I didn't have the radio code. I found however that the original radio was fine, and the code was written in permanent marker on the top. No sound though as the amp is gone.
Check wedophones.com in their manuals section and see if your year is listed.
I have a pair of HK amps from my 2002 2.5i Z3, that should fit. I'll sell them cheap if you need them.
I appreciate it. Someone else Dm'd me and I bought one from them, and have it in and working now.
