    1997 540i6 San Antonio, TX $6500

Sadly the time has come to sell my 1997 540i sport. It’s a 6 speed with 186k miles and 162k on the engine. Unmodified (aside from the wheels, but the old seven spokes are included) and rust free. For those unfamiliar with the best 5 series BMW's made, a primer:

    https://jalopnik.com/four-reasons-wh...t-n-1659284463

It was my daily driver for almost 3 years in southwest Texas. When I moved to Missouri I had intended to sell it to my father; however, he passed suddenly and it has remained in San Antonio for about a year and a half. It was stored for several months while I was out of country but has been driven regularly to keep the car healthy.

I purchased the car from its owner of 12 years in 2013. It was serviced during that time at Rhine West in San Antonio. The previous owner hydrolocked the car in August of 2006, but had it fully rebuilt at Rhine. Another nonVANOS engine with 24k less miles on it than the car was sourced and installed (82k on engine, 106k on car). After taking ownership I swapped the original seven spoke sport wheels for some style 66 M parallels. The car has been serviced as Rhine, Eurowerks, and M-Technik, and comes will full service records. Some minor work I did myself, but I have receipts for all parts. In my ownership the following were replaced:

Fuel pump, shift selector seal and linkage, transmission fluid change 11/13/13 160,000
    New style 66 17” wheels and Michelin PS A/S+ tires 1/22/14 165,000
Serpentine and AC belts 3/8/14 167,000
Front and rear brakes 3/15/14 167,000
Left rear wheel bearing 3/5/14 167,000
    LCM rebuilt 10/6/14
Front struts, rear shocks 12/24/14 175,000
Radiator and catalytic converters 01/18/15 177,000
Ignition switch, brake fluid 2/10/15 179,000
    Alignment 2/16/15 179,000
    Oil Change/Pre Sale Inspection 1/9/2019 186,000

Mechanical Concerns: The timing chain will need to be done in the next 20-25,000 miles, but all M62s will need it before 200k. The driver's side front window regulator may need to be reset on its guides, but it's functional and only scratches occasionally with the one-touch function. Two keys are included with the vehicle; however, the remote transmitter has stopped working and the key must be used to lock/unlock the car. The PO disabled the alarm function.

Interior: 9/10. The Schwartz leather interior is in excellent condition with no tears. The heated power seats are fully functional. All wood trim pieces are intact; only the passenger side dash piece has a crack in lacquer. All steering wheel, dash, and onboard computer controls work. The only pixels out are on the odometer/computer display. The plastic door sill pieces are cracked on some doors. Several interior trim pieces were replaced with OEM pieces. Overall the inside of the car is in very good-outstanding condition.

Exterior: 7.5/10. Overall the Schwartz 2 paint is in very good condition. It is very shiny with little to no fading. It is easily a 10 foot car. There are some scratches but none through the clear coat. On the front bumper, rear bumper, and painted trim pieces there were paint cracks or some chips; those have been treated with OEM touch up paint. Most of the rock chips have been touched up as well. The passenger’s side wheels have minor curb rash but are otherwise in excellent condition. The front and rear windshield gaskets have cracked with age; the rear windshield gasket was replaced but could use a reseating to get it fully flush.

Documentation: Registration current through 3/19. Clean Texas title. All service records/receipts available.

    Price: $6250 OBO
