1985 325e 2 door, front seats

I am new in the BMW and E30 family. I just received my 1985 2 door 325e, I need some help on the two sport front seats.

Q1. When I use the level to adjust the back section of the seat it just drops back, I would assume they suppose to be spring load so the back section of the seat will move to the front not just drop back, is this is correct? is so how can I fix it?

Q2. in the front two seats they are the sport version and there is a level in the front, on both seat they don't do anything, what they really do and how can that be fix?

There are no springs but use gas struts to position the seat. There are threads around on where to purchase and how to install. Then there is a ratcheting mechanism in the hinge that may be screwed up. Either way, order a set of struts, pull the seat out of the car and start there.
