I bought a Schawben Foxwell scanner, and after it was able to scan my 1996 850ci e31 couple of
times, something went wrong with it and it stopped scanning the cars(can't detect the VIN
automatically). I returned it and bought a Foxwell NT510.
The NT510 was able to scan the 850ci, and all my other BMWs correctly. Yesterday, i scanned
the 850ci and after one scan, something went wrong and again its not able to scan the cars
or detect VIN.
When i plug the NT510, and go into automatic VIN detection, i hear a clicking sound from the
scanner and nothing happens. It times out. I will contact Foxwell tech support and see whats
wrong with this, but in the meantime wanted to check here if anyone has come across this.
I haven’t had good luck with VIN detection, but once I select the car manually it seems to work fine.
