I have a 335xi that I'd like to track. Problem is the awd makes it a heavy car. I thought removing the front wheel drive portion of the awd might get the weight down close to the 335i rwd car. IS that feasible, logical, doable?
Secondly, its an automatic. Again, more weight. So I thought about switching to a manual as well.
Let me know how to start this project. and if I should or not. If I could find a 335i for 2k or less, that would be the answer. But that is impossible to get a 335 at that cost that doesnt need another 5k put in it. Thats the reason for considering this on my current car.
Thanks for everyone's help
Roger
Humans always underestimate projects. Trade the car for what you want.
I'm sure you can sell you 335xi for way more than 2k. Sell it, but 335i for same, or less money, and you;re in the same place, but with way more $$$ for actual track mods instead of silly stuff.
Ha ha sweet
So it sounds like its best to run what I have or move to a better track car. Turns out there is a c6 z06 with z07 option for sale at a a dealer. I may try to work a deal. My last track car was a c6 z06 2009 model. Sold the car for open heart surgery. Missed it ever since. 700 hp VIR in 2.05 I was trying to do this on a budget (bahahahahahahah). So I have some soul searching to do. Thanks for the input
If you run VIR track events we may have been door to door at some point.20170331_152109_resized.jpg
Cool man, I'm in the process of upgrading our C6 race car right now … trying to get it handle like our e46 race car … even with an extra 100 hp, the vette is slower … that's going to change soon
