How much can a person get, on average, for an E39 with a Trans in Fail Safe Mode?

After spending about $4000 on rebuilding the engine, cooling system, and dash electronics, the transmission went into failsafe mode.... so I said "screw it" and bought a new car.
I'm honestly just tired of putting money and time into this thing and I want to sell it.

How much do you think I can get for it, in this state? Enough?

Or do you think I'm just being dumb and should spend the money to get it diagnosed first?

A few more things:::: Torque converter is throwing a code, and it has a power steering leak... no other known issues. Body & paint in decent shape except for a dent on the driver's side door

You can get lots of money if you:

    1. Fix the power steering leak : replace the ps hoses, clamps, and reservoir. Flush and refill ps fluid.
    2. Install new charged battery: that should fix your "transmission failsafe mode". What is the code thrown by the torque converter ?
    3. Stop throwing money at this car. It is fine.

Ok I will play along too, value is based on the future service the vehicle will deliver. In this case very little as all is known is the car has "issues". IMHO it is worth what anyone offers. I doubt you will get a lot of offers.
Fix, then sell so you will not loose 100% of your investment.

Lifetime transmission, my you know what!

I tried to save one for a friend... it was too late. We decided changing the trans was better than abandoning the car, but this was a while back.

While the power steering is likely leaking. It could also be a auto trans fluid leak. The cooler lines run right up under the power steering system. You could be low on fluid.

I’ll check the fluid and replace the battery just in case, and have somebody besides the $150 an hour shop I go to look it over if it’s still acting up. Unless you guys think I can get over a grand for it without doing anything else

Part it out you'll make more.
Then sell the body to the junkyard.
